DIRECTOR - Lori Jo Whitehaus
We are very excited to welcome our new director, Lori Jo Whitehaus who joined the Red Rose Chorus on May 1, 2007. After witnessing her accomplishments with the Red Rose City Chorus, we can't wait to see how she'll shake things up in our group! Her talent, energy and passion for barbershop-style music makes her the perfect addition to our chorus!
Lori Jo got her start in barbershop music in 1978 when she joined the Greater Harrisburg Chorus (Sweet Adelines). Since 1994 she has served as the passionate director of Red Rose City Chorus, taking the group from a small struggling organization to one of the best choruses in regional competition. Under Lori Jo's direction the Red Rose City Chorus has won a number of medals and ribbons and is poised to offer stiff competition in this year's competitions.
Lori Jo is a Certified Director, Regional Faculty member, and has served on many committees and boards both at the international and regional levels of our organization. She has coached and taught a number of choruses in Region 19, and has belonged to many quartets, including her newest quartet, Act 4, where she sings Bass.
During the day Lori Jo teaches English as a Second Language in the Harrisburg School District. She is also a member of the Hummelstown United Church of Christ.
We are fortunate to have Lori Jo's talents and motivation working for the Red Rose Chorus and are looking forward to a great year. But maybe Lori Jo said it best - "My barbershop experience has taught me - There is only one little letter that can change a 'joy' into a 'job'. This is not a 'job' for me... this is a JOY."
